HOW TO MAKE YOUR LIPSTICK LAST ALL DAY, ON YOUR BIG DAY

Smiling, kissing and sipping champagne all day, on your wedding day can take its toll of your lipstick, leaving it smudged, faded or completely gone. But there are steps that can make the inevitable, avoidable... here’s those tips:

Bride & Groom

STEP ONE: SMOOTH MOVES
Your lipstick will ‘stick’ a lot better to smooth lips so before your wedding day, create the perfect base by gently exfoliating away dry or flaky skin. A soft toothbrush will do the trick (gently massage in circles), then apply heaps of lip balm to re-moisturise and protect them.  Wait a couple of minutes, then blot off the excess. TLC tip: avoid licking your lips - it will only make them drier.

STEP THREE: LIP FIX TIPS - THE GETTING-IT-ON GUIDE
1. First blot your lips with a tissue to remove any lip balm or moisturiser - the oil will stop your lipstick from sticking.
2. Create a base by outlining and filling lips with a lip pencil close to your natural lip colour.
3. Apply your lipstick with a lip-brush, then place a one-ply sheet of tissue over your lips. With a powder puff, dab the tissue with translucent loose powder to set the colour. Remove the tissue, and add one more swipe of lippie.

STEP FOUR: MAKE IT STAY PUT
To stop lip colour from ‘bleeding’ (going into the fine lines around your mouth), lightly apply foundation around the outer edge of your mouth. This trick also helps keep the shape of your lips when you colour them in.

+ THE ‘ONE THE DAY’ GLASS TRICK: To stop your lipstick coming off onto your cup or glass, secretly press your tongue to the spot where you’re about to sip, and then the lipstick won’t stick.
