Bride Reveals may be the newest wedding trend but as your big day approaches, you’re probably wondering whether you want to see your groom before the ceremony—or whether you want to wait until you walk down the aisle for your big reveal.
Here's everything you need to know to help you decide...
What is a Bride Reveal?
A Bride Reveal {or First Look} is a moment on the wedding day when the Bride and Groom plan to see each other for the first time. The idea behind this it that it allows couples to share this special moment together in a more private setting. Unlike traditional weddings where the couple plans to see each other during the ceremony.
Why do a Bride Reveal?
Bride Reveals are becoming popular for a number of reasons…
1. It can help calm your nerves
If you get nervous around crowds, don’t like to be the centre of attention or gets anxious rather easily, a bride reveal is perfect for you. Your wedding is probably one of the biggest days of your life and there can be a lot of internal stress built up to that moment of seeing each other for the first time. Doing a Bridal Reveal will give you peace of mind knowing that your groom will be there for you to help calm those nerves. It can be a huge relief seeing your groom before the ceremony and can help to make the rest of the wedding less stressful.
2. You’re more in control
Seeing your groom for the first time can be very emotional and you may both cry. If you do shed a little tear during your Bride Reveal, you’ll have time to have your make-up fixed before seeing the rest of your bridal party and guests. When you see your groom walk down the aisle you may also be less likely to cry and ruin your eye makeup.
3. It gives you more photo opportunities
Not only will you capture the most amazing, emotional photos, it will also give your photographer a chance to get comfortable photographing you as a couple. Plus on your wedding day, you can never take too many photos.
4. It allows you to be more present at your wedding
Your wedding day will go by so fast, so getting intimate photos beforehand can allow you to relax a little and stress less. You’ll know you will have captured unseen moments with your hair, dress, flowers and soon-to-be husband which will allow you to enjoy the rest of your wedding.
How to do a Bride Reveal
Just like the others reveal moments, this one takes a little communication and planning for it all to work perfectly. Here are three steps to success:
1. Decide who you want to be at the reveal. You can reveal to your new husband-to-be, your bridesmaids, your parents, or your entire bridal party. It’s completely up to you.
2. Assign a point person, such as your Maid of Honour, to communicate the time and place for everyone to be. This way you are not waiting on them or walking into an empty room.
3. Make sure everyone is in the room such as bridesmaids, mother in laws… anyone who would like to be there for this special moment. This moment is as fun and special for them as it is for you.
4. Raise your glasses… open the doors and enjoy being in the spotlight! This is the perfect time for your photographer to capture all the candid, real emotions in photos you will look back and treasure. It’s such a great photo opportunity!
