Bridal showers are a wonderful way to celebrate the bride to be. It’s a celebration of her, her life so far and the new journey she is about to embark on.
For me, showers are about creating a sense of magic. This can be conjured up by mixing a plethora of themes to bring about a sense of mystery, luxury and enchantment. I enjoy creating a make believe world and narrating a story. My current favourite theme is a blend of Alice in Wonderland meets Marie Antoinette. To create this type of occasion, start with glittered, textured, embossed and flocked papers in beautiful patterns that sparkle and shine. The invitations, menus, place settings, bonbonniere and napkin rings wrapped in decorative lace tape along with embellishments and ribbons all bring about a sense of fashion to inspire.

Consider a selection of tea cups, tea pots, plates, bowls and cake stands filled with the loveliest of cupcake art to continue the theme. In an array of signature colours and patterns to suit any palette and trimmed in the most luxurious 24-carat gold – tea-ware never looked so beautiful. Stack the cups high in antique domes or on top of one another for added height and drama.
For the final touches I always like to include items that highlight and complement the chosen theme. Antique keys, spray painted DIY picture frames with quotes on love and easels – the possibilities are endless. Rose petals and oversized flowers (fake or real) invoke a sense of prettiness and may add a stunning fragrance to the room. Or, for something unique and original – paper couture (ie. paper sculpture installations or origami-like art taken to the next level) is the latest trend I love to incorporate for a real point of dream-like difference.
